After all the problems that the colonists had with England, at last there were to declare independence. They wanted to be independent and start over, after trying to make peace with England and the fact that it wasn't accepted by the King. Through the book that Thomas Paine wrote the colonists understood all that could be done to do so.
The Declarations of Independence was sent to congress for it to be voted, Thomas Jefferson (the third president of United States) wrote the draft and it was sent. In July 2nd, 1776 the congress voted for the declaration, which most of them agreed, then in July 4th, 1776 it was finally approved.
Through the Declaration of Independence many ideas were expressed such as the Enlightenment ideas that were freedom, life, and the pursuit of happiness. It also contained lots of grievances and it had an idea that caused problems and it was the statement that said that we all were equal, this caused problems because they had slaves. At last in the Declaration of Independence it was written about the "Unalienable Rights" that meant that they had all to protect those rights to keep maintain the peace.
After all, the colonists were giving all the ideas they could for the right they had to declare independence.
